Blackfriars progeny Black George romped home to win the $130,000 Hannan's Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie Boulder yesterday. Black George, ridden by Shaun O'Donnell, beat Our Old Fella (Halo Homewrecker) by a length and a quarter in a race that had plenty of early pace. It was the seven year old gelding's first stakes win and takes his career earnings to $248,410 after winning 9 from 32 starts.

WA's leading 2yo sire has come away from the last metropolitan meeting of the season with a win after Gracetown was victorious in the Cardinal Virtue Hcp at Belmont Park yesterday. The wet weather descended upon Belmont Park for the week leading up to Saturday, but the amazing Belmont Park track once again came through and produced the goods for all concerned. The Brits descended upon Belmont Park on Saturday and did they light up the day. The sun was shining on a glorious Belmont Park racecourse on Saturday, with great racing to boot. There was no feature race event on the program but the fields were strong with great competitive racing all day. The first race of the day and once again the finish of the Saxon filly Stacks On for the Lou and Dion Luciani racing stable produced a sensational finish to prove that the Saxon stock are going to keep getting stronger and stronger and according to Dion Luciani they would be happy to have a stable full of them, a great advertisement for Heytesbury Stud.

After a week of wet weather the sun was shining on Belmont Park on Saturday and the racing was just as good. The main race of the day was the Country Provincial Championship run over 1400m and this was taken out in impressive fashion by the Ihtiram gelding Mirrannon, these races are always great spectacles as you get so many different form lines coming together and they usually don't disappoint for their evenness. H.G.Bolton Sprint day saw the emergence of our States outstanding sprinters for the first time for what is promising to be a great winter of Sprint Racing. It certainly didn't feel like winter time at Belmont Park on Saturday never the less it was a nice change of scenery and the racing was extremely competitive. The first race of the day and the odds on favourite Mantango went down to the promising Touchstone Farm owned Sweet Serenity in a gritty win coming from the rear of the field, good luck to all concerned. As the winter racing program starts to loom, the summer days at Ascot are slowly drawing to a close. A huge weekend of racing with the highlight being the start of the Bunbury Carnival for 2011. Saturday racing was a small and select day with only seven races, but they were all competitive and produced some very promising gallopers. We now look forward to the up coming weeks heading towards to Perth Magic Millions Sales and seeing many of our sales graduates hit the track in anticipation of a start in the Perth Magic Millions 2 year old and three year old race.
